Hi guys ive been playing around on support.lenovo.com and it looks like if you register and add your thinkpads to your profile you can (some times) get recovery media emailed to you for free even if the laptop is second hand. just got official windows 8 pro disks plus an additional 'software' disk from lenovo (for my t440s) which i assume has all the thinkpad specific programs.
